Services
Birth Support
As your birth doula I offer support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I usually meet with families 1-2 times prenatally to discuss birth options/preferences, create birth and postpartum plans, and practice coping techniques. I provide continuous support throughout labor, usually joining clients in active labor and staying through early postpartum. Massage, counter pressure, position changes, water therapy, creating a calming environment and help with baby’s first feed are all ways that I often support my clients.
Postpartum Support
I love watching new families grow and gain confidence as they adjust to life with a new baby. Whether you need support for a few hours, days, or months, allow me to ease some of the stress that comes along with adding a new family member. I am available to help with meal planning and prep, sibling support, baby wearing, diapering, light house tidying and baby laundry, Postpartum shifts are scheduled for a minimum block of four hours per shift/day. Gift certificates for postpartum support make GREAT baby shower gifts!
Sibling Support
Does your older child want to attend the birth of a new sibling? Hiring a sibling doula will set the whole family up for a satisfying birth experience! Like when supporting clients for birth, I meet with "Big Sib" 1-2 times before birth to build a relationship and help prepare them for the big day. As a Montessori trained teacher-turned-homeschool-mom I recognize the importance of meeting every child's needs on an individual basis; at our prenatal appointments I will use various tools and activities to get your Big Sib ready to meet their newest sibling!
Mifwife's Assistant
In addition to supporting my doula clients, I also assist local homebirth midwives. I have trained with the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Birth Emergency Skills Training (B.E.S.T.), and Breech Without Borders (BWOB). I began assisting home birth midwives in 2022 and have loved learning from and training with 3 traditional midwives serving various communities. PLEASE NOTE: When hired as a doula I do not provide medical care. See doula letter of agreement for more information.
1:1 Childbirth Education
I highly recommend my clients attend a childbirth education class outside of those offered by your local hospital. If planning a hospital birth the hospital-offered education class can be helpful to learn what to expect at your birthing location; an out of hospital class will best prepare you for labor itself. In the past I have taught childbirth education series' for the local nonprofit Ohio Parenting Collaborative, and truly have a heart for teaching evidence based information. I offer 1:1 childbirth education classes that can be done in the comfort of your own home, or via videoconference, easing the burdens of scheduling and childcare for older siblings. While theses classes teach what I believe to be the most important information for expectant parents, they are uniquely tailored to your circumstances.
